Press Release for Far Away Land RPG 2nd Edition
Simian Circle Games has announced the Second Edition of their Far Away Land Role-Playing Game to celebrate its 10th Anniversary. They are funding their project through Kickstarter.
For those who have never heard of or played Far Away Land, it’s a rules-lite, d6, fantasy science fiction tabletop rpg that is simple to learn, fast to play, and designed for all ages. The Second Edition of Far Away Land is a simplification and expansion of the rules and mechanics which allow for faster play and less bookkeeping compared with first edition. In addition to these changes, the rules from the first edition books including the Core Rules, Creatures Volumes 1, 2, and 3, Seas of Far Away Land, and the Nuzoz expansion have all been combined into a single tome (The Enchiridion of Awesome) or two separate books (Core Rules and Bestiary 1). In addition, a Book of Lore featuring maps, histories, stories, and adventure locations is also to be part of the Kickstarter.
The simple, colorful, quirky art of Far Away Land reflects the gameplay, lore, and feel of the world. The creation mythos, pantheon of deities, history of the world and ages, timelines, lineages, heroes, villains, great cities, terrible wars, undead uprisings, and other setting elements all serve to create a living world that feels immersive. The majority of the Bestiary’s 350 entries are unique to Far Away Land and include everything from Abraham Lincoln clones to bear riding nuns to giant mechanical heads that speak dubstep to a species of clones who believe they are living in a soap opera to the cyclopean and spiked-headed Orka who commune with spirits of the past to find answers in the present. Far Away Land is vast and deep in its history and the many stories included in the Book of Lore help GMs and players get a glimpse of the world on an intimate scale.
The Second Edition launch books are available in pdf and hardcover and come in at a total of 750+ pages. The books are full color, 8.5 x 11 inches, and loaded with content including 36 playable Heritages, 350 bestiary entries, a massive list of spells and magic items, tons of charts and generators for creating random content, two adventures, and loads more. The Book of Lore contains full-page and double-spread hex maps, location descriptions, history, timelines, and short stories featuring characters and adventures. These books are packed with colorful, vibrant, playful artwork that immerses players in a deep and rich fantasy world full of quirky characters.
